A Train to Montreux

Today was our last full day in Switzerland and we had no set agenda so everyone was free to do as they pleased. Most of the group decided to buy a 13 Franc, round-trip ticket to the lakeside city of Montreux. Before we arrived at the city Professor Ryan refers to as the "Riviera of Lake Geneva" due to its abundance of expensive shops and restaurants, we stopped in the town of Vevey. We spent a hour or so exploring the town and shopping at their town square market, which was a combination between a farmers market and a neighborhood garage sale. Everyone had fun looking around and taking photographs of the picturesque landscape with Lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps in the background.

We got back on the train and a few minutes later arrived in Montreux. We walked down through the city to the shore of Lake Geneva. After a few more pictures, we walked along the edge of the water through a few dozen vendors. After walking along the lake for a while we stopped at a restaurant where most of us got cheese pizza (the least expensive item on the menu). We hopped back on the train for the twenty or so minute ride back to Lausanne. The day was finished off with fajitas and pool at a Mexican restaurant.

Now it's time to pack our bags and step back in time to the world of ancient Olympia in Greece.
