We got to sleep in a little bit today which is always appreciated. Once the whole group convened in the hotel lobby around 10 or so we departed down the road for a short walk to the Olympic Research Center. The Olympic Research Center contains anything and everything you need to know that is Olympic related. There are thousands of books focusing on the history of the games, the rules of the games, memorable moments of the games, etc.We got a brief tour around the center and then spent the remainder of our time researching each of our selected topics. I couldnt (excuse my grammer I cant find the apostrophe on this Swiss keyboard) beleive how much information was in that place, I could have spent days in there. After an hour or so of research we went across the street to the Olympic Musuem. The Olympic Musuem is located on a boat which was pretty cool. On the first level they had a display of every torch used in the modern Games as well as the gold, silver, and bronze medals that were distributed. On the top level there were posters that had a description of all of the modern games as well as pictures to go along with it. It was really interesting to read all of the descriptions and see how the games have evolved over the last 100 years.
Once we finished up at the Musuem most of us rented out boats and took them out on Lake Geneva. The only problem though was the boat had no ladder on it so once we jumped into the water it was difficult to get back in (the water was freezing by the way). I thought we were going to have to leave Jon P behind, however after a few minutes he was eventually able to make his way back into the boat. The boat trip was awesome as we were able to get a great view of the Lake, a great view of the mountains, and relax on the water.
At night Professor Ryan and a few others went grocery shopping for the group. They bought a variety of meats, cheeses, etc. and we had a group picnic/dinner on the beach. All of the food was delecious as Derek did a tremendous job grilling the sausages, but the sceneary was even better. The only downside of the dinner was that I had to give Professor Ryan a piggy back ride for a short period of time (pictures to come). Other than that, it was a great day learning about the Olympics and being at the beach.
